Finding a Better Job

A Better Job Is Waiting for You!

Are you working part time and want full time work?  Are you unhappy with your job?  Where do you begin to find a different job?  You may not be suited for the job you are doing, so why not find out what you are suited for?  Call the Missouri Career Center to schedule Career Testing.  The testing will match your skills and aptitudes to the jobs for which you are best suited.

If you already know what you want to do, but are not sure there is a demand for openings for that kind of work, go to the MERIC website and click on "Explore Careers" to find out what is available.

If you find a career that interests you and it is in demand, but you don't have the skills, visit our Training and Education Resources for a list of schools in the area.  They can help you with financial aid and with scheduling classes so you can continue to work and still go to school.  Check with your local Career Center. If you meet the eligibility (low income or laid off), you may qualify for help to pay for training.  Also, check with your employer.  Many employers offer help with education.

Once you know what you want to do and have the skills, register at Missouri Career Source to find jobs and to help potential employers to find you.

Your local Missouri Career Center can help you to prepare a professional résumé and has classes on interviewing skills.  You may also want to look at our Job Search Resources for sample résumés, résumé templates, examples of commonly asked interview questions, and job interview tips.
