About PIE

As a United Way initiative, the PIE mission is to improve the educational level of the workforce in the community. Launched in 1990, when St. Joseph had the highest unemployment rate in the state, PIE is a partnership with local businesses, colleges, and the St. Joseph Public School District working to:

Increase the high school graduation rate to 92%
Increase the percentage of adults who obtain a high school diploma or a GED equivalency to over 70%
Encourage lifelong learning in the community and increase the literacy performance of the workforce
Provide an educated workforce ready to work wihtin the community
